So far I've had two clients go cold on me just as I approached their apartment buildings. They failed to answer any of my texts and calls which is a major drawback since the apartment buildings in their respective areas either need a code to bypass a gate or one to enter the building. I tried to call Uber support and the automatic voice message informed me that they could not assist me and to instead try to inform them of the situation via the help menu on the app yet none of the issues I was facing appeared on the designated help menu. When I finally got ahold of an agent, I was immediately told I would be redirected to another person but I was ghosted instead.
Uber does give you the opportunity to cancel the delivery but the first time I did so, I was never paid like promised despite having already haven driven over twenty minutes from the restaurant to my destination and was then stuck with five orders of shrimp fried rice. Fortunately, I have people whom I can share meals with to avoid throwing out so much edible food ๐ต
Similarly this morning I was tasked to deliver groceries to a client, and once I arrived at their gated community apartment they stopped sending me messages. They left a delivery note sharing an additional phone number where they could be reached and upon calling a lady picked up and notified me she didn't even know the client ๐ญ Despite the previous attempt at calling for help failed I still tried again and while I was able to have a thorough conversation with a rep this time, he ended the chat letting me know that an e-mail would be sent shortly with instructions on what to do next and that e-mail never made its way into my mailbox!
When the restaurant and the client are both open to communication a lot of magic happens. The restaurant wants to sell food, the client wants it delivered and here I am wanting to do just that. Hiccups are bound to happen and thats fine but for some reason, Uber is committed to being neglectful. I never believed the telltale that "capitalism breeds innovation" and much less now after being slapped in the face by a company worth 88.08 billion USD at the time that I'm typing this. It's so aggravating because I know the company doesn't care and is taking advantage of people like me who need the extra cash to have some breathing space in between checks.
Not sure how to end this post ๐ I always feel a tad guilty in airing out my grievances but I did create this space to do whatever I wanted so I'm going to get over it and publish this anyway. Thanks again for visiting my blog! ๐ I hope everyone has a wonderful night and has the sweetest dreams ๐๐
